My Most Precious Possessions
"What were and are your most precious possessions?" I often do not become attached to my possessions, but there are some that I have become quite fond of over the years. There are items that I still have and others that I do not own anymore because they were either lost or destroyed. Here is a brief description of several of the items I have learned to cherish, even if these things are not in my life anymore. 1. Water Baby I cannot remember who gave me my water baby doll, but

April 2017 Accomplishments and Happenings
April 2017 was a month that was very good to me. Though I didn't make much art or read voraciously, it was a helpful month that allowed me to resolve a handful of financial issues. I Got a New Job It wasn't exactly "new" but it was with the same organization I had been working for since 2013. So I made my re-entrance. It was relieving for me because not only do I like the organization, but I was making more money and had full time hours. I made an attempt to work two other jo

March 2017 Accomplishments
March was quite an exciting and transformative month. It set the tone for the rest of my year, even though there are many months until the year's end. Here is what I accomplished in March. Book Signing I had a book signing at Progressive Emporium. Though the signing focused on my new book, it was my first book signing for every one of my books (I have four in all). It was an experience that was encouraged me to continue writing, for it came at a time when I was lacking in con

Kujichagulia
I have been celebrating Kwanzaa since 2004 and my observance of it sets my mindset for the upcoming year. Every year, I choose one principle from the Nguzo Saba (Seven Principles) and practice embodying that principle throughout the year. Though I initially decided to concentrate on a new principle every year, for the past two years, I have selected Kujichagulia as my main affirmation. REASON 1: It Stemmed from My Frustration with the First Principle. I have always gravitated

Book Review: "Wishes Fulfilled: Mastering the Art of Manifesting" by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer
I found Dr. Wayne W. Dyer's book Wishes Fulfilled: Mastering the Art of Manifesting on a shelf at my job. It came at a most appropriate time, which seems to be a common occurrence in my life, in regards to his books. I read through it quickly, as I usually do with his writings. Dr. Dyer's books are not a chore to read because he writes in a conversational tone. Because he writes in this fashion it is easier for the reader to be open to and absorb new ideas which may challenge

Order
One of the quickest ways to manifest something into your life is to transform the environment around you (if this is within your power). For some people, it is difficult to alter your mindset because external barriers or conflicts are showing you a different message. If creative visualization has not caused any changes, bringing order into your life, order that can be seen, is an impactful option to choose. Whenever I am having stumbling blocks in my life, the first action I

My Books
In March 2017, I was invited to have a book signing at Progressive Emporium. It was an honor because although I have four books, I have never had a signing for any of them. How ironic. It was an enthralling experience and I chattered away about my love for book creation and why I had created every one of my books. It was an intimate setting, the signing was hosted in a room honoring our ancestor, Mama Frances. The atmosphere was welcoming because I was among friends. People w
